History

Jenkar Shipping Limited was established in 1978 by our current owner Terry Firth and his then business partner.  They recognised a requirement in the Wakefield area for local industry to have their own independent freight forwarder.  This gave local businesses access to expert advice to assist them in the complex world of import and export.

Jenkar started with just two employees and was situated in Wakefield, relocating to Ossett in 1980.   Over the years a steady growth was maintained and by 1999 Jenkar once again found itself looking for larger premises.  In March 2000 we moved to our current location at Methley in Leeds.  We now operate for a variety of customers on a national and international level and have business partners all over the world.
In June 1997 we opened our 35,000sqft warehouse at Wakefield 41 Industrial estate.  From this site we offer a complete warehousing and distribution service to our customers.
